From Our Guest Book

We had a sweet and wonderful stay here at Abalone. The hot tub after a hike to Tomales Point was exquisite. Everything is full of charm and color. We of course also loved the fresh eggs and Dona's terrific hosting.

Spending two evenings here was such a pleasant, warm, and welcome experience. What a lovely place and friendly vibe. Thanks so much for everything. Hope to come back again soon.

Thanks you so much for your kindness and generosity. What a peaceful haven you've created here! And what lucky chickens. Never had an egg warm from ... you know ... before. Your home was one long extended healing hug for us. God bless you and yours.

We had a great three-night stay - very comfortable. Came here to Pt. Reyes primarily for birding, and R&R from work. Saw 97 different bird species in the area. Most notable for us were Townsend's Warbler and Ferruginous Hawk.

Saw the following here on or from the property:

American Robin
Red-shouldered Hawk
Anna's Hummingbird
Song Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Golden-crowned Sparrow
Canada Goose
Osprey

Western Scrub Jay
American Goldfinch

Using scope from front porch, we also saw:

American Widgeon
Northern Pintail
Northern Shoveler
Green-winged Teal
Snowy Egret

Western Gull
California Gull
Scamp
Western Grebe

Thank you Dona!

Press Reviews

From the San Francisco Examiner...

On a spontaneous road trip to the Point Reyes area, my fiance and I stumbled upon a charming bed and breakfast called The Abalone Inn. It sits up on a hill that affords wonderful views of the lush green mountains that border Tomales Bay. The house itself is a restored Victorian with a sunny welcoming feel, surrounded by bright flowers and shiny abalone shells.

The house has an interesting history that has been preserved and honored by by the inn's hosts, Dona Larkin and her son, Ian. Dona made us feel right at home, offering us a glass of wine and spirited conversation. She is a warm, gracious host, and the inn reflects this in all of its touches from the quilt on our bed, handmade by her grandmother, to the lovely wildflowers growing in the garden outside of our room.

From the San Francisco Chronicle...

My husband and I have just returned from five days in heaven: The Inverness/ Point Reyes area... I want to recommend Dona Larkin's Abalone Inn. She has opened up her airy, pastoral 1912 home offering the rooms - one with a wonderful outdoor shower off the garden. She serves complimentary refreshments and great conversation for those who wish and is willing to accommodate a family.
